Compilation title:
Elgar and Sousa - Patriotic Marches
Description:
Not many composers are immediately connected with a particluar nation's style of music but both Edward Elgar, (quintessentially English), and John Sousa, (the USA's 'King of Marches'), are known worldwide for their famous patriotic marches. The Pomp and Circumstance Marches are still used in 'The Last Night of the Proms' classical festival by the BBC. Sousa's marches are full of energy and wit - 'The Liberty Bell' was used as the theme tune for 'Monty Python's Flying Circus'.
