Technical FAQs
Q: How do I play the music?
A: You do not need a media player to listen to the demos. These are presented in Flash. If you haven't got the Macromedia Flash plug-in, you can
download it here.
To play the music after download you will need a media player or an application suitable for decoding WAVs and MP3s for the tracks you download directly from our music catalogue or directory. Most production editing software packages allow WAVs and MP3s to be edited and inserted wherever you want and almost every computer has the ability to play them.
You can get our recommended media players by clicking on the logos.
All are free and have many other features to use. Media Jukebox and Winamp also allow you to convert the file formats. We do not recommend you play MP3 files in Real Player as it changes them by altering the file extension. For best results, use one of our recommended players.
Q: Can you only provide the music in WAV or MP3 format?
A: No. Our music library contains these files as they are by far the most popular types of file used in audio production and internet audio. ost every file format and sample rate is available on request, such as .aif, . wma, .ape, .ogg, and .rm. We can also provide music on DAT, DVD or CD. Please
contact us with your request.
Please note: any loops are provided for download as WAV files only.
Q: What is MP3?
A: MP3 is a compression format for audio use that reduces the size of the file. Uncompressed music files are very big (typically 1 minute of music equals 10 MB of data) so MP3s are the most sensible way to distribute music over the Internet and via e-mail etc. If you would like any further technical information on MP3s, visit

Q: What is the quality of the MP3 files?
A: All the main tracks are extremely high quality, 256kbps, 44.1kHz stereo files.
All the demos are lower quality 56 bit files in stereo to give you a sample of the music, for preview and evaluation purposes.
Q: Why 256 bit?
A: We want your productions to benefit from premium quality soundtracks. Most commercial music download sites offer lower quality audio rates, (usually 128kbps), claiming that this is the standard CD quality format. This is simply not true. The superior clarity of 256 bit over 128 bit is clearly audible.
Q: So what difference does 256 bit actually make?
A: It provides a warmer, much more accurate reproduction of the non-compressed track than 128 bit does. Why not try it for yourself? Download Music Jukebox and its free trial MP3 plug-in and have a go at encoding a piece of music at different bit rates to hear the difference. Do not distribute the encoded tracks in any way unless you own the copyrights or have been given express permission to do so.
The 256 bit files are also bigger.
Q: So how big are these files?
A: Use the following coversions as a good approximation:
1 minute as an uncompressed WAV file = 10MB in size.
1 minute as a 256kbps MP3 = 2MB in size.
So a 4 minute track, (like the one featured in our
full quality preview), would be a 40MB WAV, or a 8MB MP3. Choosing which one you ultimately download will depend on your requirements. We can't say how long files will take to download as internet speeds are affected by a huge number of variables, but we can guarantee that you will certainly receive your tracks a great deal quicker than waiting for a CD.
